The Ultimate Food Tour Experience — Updated
As a UI/UX Designer for Charlottesville Food Tours by Charlottesville Guides, I contributed to enhancing their website’s design and accessibility. Through thoughtful UI/UX updates, I helped create a more user-friendly and inclusive experience, ensuring that visitors could easily navigate the site and book tours.
Situation:
Charlottesville Food Tours by Charlottesville Guides aimed to improve their website’s accessibility and overall user experience. The site was not meeting modern UI/UX standards, making it difficult for users to navigate and fully enjoy the browsing and booking process.
Task:
My role was to update the website design, focusing on UI/UX improvements to ensure a more accessible and intuitive experience for all users, including those with accessibility needs. The goal was to make the site easy to navigate, visually appealing, and compliant with accessibility standards.
Action:
I began by conducting a user experience audit to identify areas for improvement, focusing on layout, navigation, color contrast, and accessibility features like keyboard navigation and alt text. I redesigned key pages to enhance readability and flow, and I incorporated clear navigation paths to improve the user journey from landing to booking. I also ensured that all elements were optimized for screen readers, enhancing the site’s accessibility for users with visual impairments.
Resolution:
The updated Charlottesville Food Tours website launched successfully, receiving positive feedback from users for its improved accessibility and ease of navigation. The enhanced UI/UX design led to increased engagement, making it easier for visitors to explore tour options and book directly through the site. This project underscored the importance of accessible design and set a new standard for future updates.
