2024-2025 Director Compensation Report

A yearly report by NACD on director compensation, has never had designers who specialize in data visualization. I designed data visualizations and infographics for this report, with the unique challenge of making them accessible for the PDF version and the web native version. By having a designer on the team with this unique skillset costs were reduced and quality was increased.

Situation:

NACD seeks to make their website more modern and enhance user experience while simultaneously growing SEO strategy. While a web native report would be better for SEO strategy, the relevant users are more accustomed and prefer PDF versions of reports. Furthermore, NACD has no adopted color palette for data visualizations that is consistently legible for visually impaired users.

Task:

Since the demographic is more accustomed to PDF reports ity is necessary to produce both a web-native and PDF report to maintain SEO strategies and slowly transition users to a web-native website design. All data visualization must be designed twice in order to fit both needs while being the same in information and contect. In order to ensure sufficient contrast it is necessary to create a color palette specifically for data visualizations that reflects the NACD parent brand.

Action:

To tackle the graphics I designed them all in Figma to make them responsive to different sizing. I also layered all content to ensure ADA accessibility for visually impaired users. I designed infographics to highlight important information in the report and create a visually appealing report. These graphics were then animated to be apart of the social media strategy.

Using accessible color palette generators I beta tested different palettes for data visualizations and then presented them to the team. We then selected which colors worked best for our brand while ensuring integrity to ADA standards.

Resolution:

Infographics and data visualizations were designed for the digital and print version of the report, enhancing NACD’s digital & SEO strategy without sacrificing user preferences. Costs were also reduced as I served as an in-house designer, when NACD had previously contracted complex data visualizations out. Finally, data visualizations were enhanced through out the organization as a data visualization color palette was adopted from my suggestions.
