Situation:
The CFA Institute sought to create the Python Programming Fundamentals as well as a Data Science course to equip professionals with essential skills, however; filming presenters located overseas presented logistical challenges that threatened the project timeline and quality.
Task:
As a Video Editor & Designer, my role was to edit and produce 7 hours of instructional video content while ensuring that the quality and coherence of the course remained high despite the challenges of remote filming. I also had to make transcripts, create video subtitles, and ensure all ADA accessibility within the course,
Action:
To overcome the difficulties of filming overseas, I developed a process for utilizing remote studios. This involved coordinating with presenters and ensuring they had the necessary equipment and setup for high-quality video recording. I also established clear guidelines for recording to maintain consistency in lighting, audio quality, and presentation style. Once the footage was captured, I focused on editing the content to ensure clarity and engagement, incorporating relevant visuals to enhance the learning experience.
Resolution:
The Python Programming Fundamentals & Data Science course was successfully completed, featuring 7 hours of well-produced video content. By implementing the remote studio process, we not only met the project deadline but also maintained high production standards. This innovative approach to remote filming was adopted as a permanent SOP within the institute.
